Quick Set-Up:
- Hot route the left inside linebacker to blitz.
- Before the snap, stay in control of the left inside linebacker and slide him one notch to the right.
- Once the ball is snapped, let him take one step forward, then manually drop him back in pass coverage.
Coaching Points:
- The pressure is designed to come from the weak side defensive tackle through the B gap between the left guard and left tackle.
- If for some reason the weak side defensive tackle is blocked, then the pressure should come from the right outside linebacker.
- When dropping the left inside linebacker back into pass coverage watch for pass routes over the short middle.
- Another option would be to hot route the free safety to blitz and bring him up to the line of scrimmage instead of the left inside linebacker. Once the ball is snapped you would drop him back in the pass coverage over the deep middle. We wouldn't recommend using this type of blitz setup unless your opponent was inside your 10 yard line.
