In this Madden 24 video breakdown, we will look at the Turbo and Loop Blitz Combined, where you can set up out of the Nickel 3-3 defense. This is a popular formation for getting pressure on the quarterback, and we will add a wrinkle to it by using the turbo blitz.
The defense we will use is called Nickel 3-3–Cover 1 Robber Press. We chose this defense for these key reasons:
- The corners will always be in press coverage as long as you have bass align turned off.
- It has the strong safety playing deep middle and the free safety playing robber, which makes it effective against crossing routes.
- It takes no time to set up.

Coaching Adjustments:
We will only make one coaching adjustment for this blitz setup: We will turn off auto flip defensive play call. This will ensure that we are always calling the play from the correct side of the field.
Blitz Setup:
- To set up the blitz, we will first call QB contain.
- Then, we will switch to the right outside linebacker and move him to the outside of the right end.
- Finally, we will switch to the right end.
How the Blitz Works:
The right outside linebacker will loop around the outside of the line and rush the quarterback. The nose tackle will also rush the quarterback, and the left guard will typically slide over to block him. This leaves the right end free to rush the quarterback unblocked.
The turbo blitz is where the user controls a defender. In this case, it's the right end. The user can then tap the A/X button several times to turbo rush the quarterback. This can be an effective way to get to the quarterback quickly, but it is also important to be careful not to overshoot the quarterback.
Coaching Points:
- The design pressure comes from the right end.
- Be careful not to overshoot the quarterback with the turbo blitz.
- If you are not getting pressure with the loop blitz, try adjusting the position of the right outside linebacker.
