For this Madden Tips and Plays breakdown, we look at a defensive setup that brings Quick A-Gap Pressure Vs Gun 5 WR Formations. In the breakdown we show how to get A-Gap Pressure from the defensive tackle with only a four-man pass rush. Besides the pass rush, we have solid pass coverage on all the receivers.

Quick A-Gap Pressure Breakdown:
The defensive play we use for this breakdown is the 3-4 Cub – Cover 4 Quarters. Notice in the image above, we flip the defense.
To set up the 3-4 Cub – Cover 4 Quarters, we spread the defensive line. This brings the two safeties closer to the line of scrimmage. We also hot route the nose tackle in to QB Spy.
After we have hot routed the nose tackle into QB Spy, we slide him over one notch to the left. This aligns him between the left guard and center.
Once the center snaps the ball, we watch to see what direction he pass blocks.
In the image above, the center looks to block towards the right side of the offensive line. This is the direction we want him to pass block.
In most cases, he will look to block to the right side. If he does, then we can manually rush the nose tackle such as we show in the image above.
The center will try to come back to block the nose tackle, but he will be too late. We have already got past them and we are now heading towards the quarterback.
As a result, the nose tackle sacks the quarterback for a loss.
