46 Normal – Cover 1 Hole

For this Madden Tips and Plays breakdown, we show 46 Normal – Cover 1 Hole and how we like to set up A Gap Blitz from the middle linebacker. What we like about this A Gap Blitz setup from the 46 Normal Cover Hole is the quick pressure from the middle linebacker and the deep pass coverage from the free safety.

Default Assignments:

Quick Set-Up:

1. Spread the defensive line out.
2. Man press coverage (optional).
3. QB Contain (optional).
4. Take control of the middle linebacker and hot rod him into a mid-read zone.
5. Move him up near the line of scrimmage in between the right guard and right tackle.

Coaching Points:

1. The pressure comes from the middle linebacker.
2. For this blitz to work, you will need to stay in control of him. Once he slides over to the left, look for the gap between the center and right guard.
3. Hit the speed burst button and go after the quarterback.
4. The past coverage is good because of the free safety playing the deep middle.
5. The other five defenders are in man coverage.

The 46 Normal – Cover 1 Hole – A Gap Blitz is another defense from the 46 Normal that brings pressure on the quarterback with good pass coverage behind it. We like to mix this one in with the 46 Normal – Inside Blitz, as they both work well together.
