Default Pass Routes Assignments:
Position | Assignment |
SE | Deep Post |
TE | Pass Block |
FK | Deep Cross |
FB | Pass Block |
RB | Delay Curl |
Quick Setup:
- No pre-snap adjustments.
Coaching Points:
- Against a one high safety coverage shell, look to see if the safety drops back or comes up. If he drops back to cover the deep post route ran by the split end, then the flanker will be open underneath on the crossing route. If the safety comes up to cover the flanker on the deep crossing route, then the spit end will be open on the deep post.
- Watch the defenders dropping back in the hook zones. Normally the hook zone defender that drops back to cover the flanker on the deep crossing route will eventually come to cover the runningback on the delay curl route. When he does, the flanker will be open.
- There is a seven man pass protection scheme, so the pass blocking should hold up long enough to look for one the receivers deep down the field. If nothing opens up deep, look for the runningback or take off and run the ball.
